Growth mindset, goal setting, resilience, confidence and metacognition work. Comprehension – Developing the joy of English! Reading a range of texts (poetry, fiction and non-fiction) and encouraging intonation and understanding. We begin text analysis skills, introduce literary devices and the tools that authors use to make fiction vivid. We are detectives, identifying the literary devices and start to annotate texts and analyse questions, whilst structuring answers appropriately. Creative Writing Skills. Children often struggle with writing skills, and we deliver a method that meets the examiner’s mark scheme. Following the examinations, many students have received letters from next schools commending their writing. Vocabulary building. Punctuation and Grammar Strong mindsets, confidence and impressive academic progress. It is never to early to start preparing for rigorous entrance examinations and to develop a real understanding and appreciation of English – aiming to develop a life-long love.
