School’s out for summer and, if you’re away, here’s the opportunity to balance the break with some powerful preparation. Comprehension skills working in granular detail through the text, deep analysis and annotation skills, question types and structuring answers with precision (PETA). Meticulous in making a clear point, choosing appropriate evidence, naming the technique and analysing the effect. Writing skills are linked to the comprehension work so that children understand the relationship – often thought of as separate skills. We identify and use the literary devices in descriptive writing, delivering a method that meets the examiner’s mark scheme. Following the examinations, many students have received letters from top-tier independent schools commending their writing skills. Personal response writing task typical of Westminster, St Paul’s and second round/interview tasks. Grammar and Vocabulary. All material is original and cannot be purchased.
