School’s out for summer and if you’re away, here’s the opportunity to balance the break with some powerful preparation. This course is excellent to build on the momentum from Week One or as an independent week of teaching and learning given all material is bespoke. Comprehension skills working in granular detail through the text, deep analysis and annotation skills, approaching a variety of question types and structuring answers with precision (PETA). Meticulous in making a clear point, choosing appropriate evidence, naming the technique and analysing the effect. Writing skills are linked to the comprehension work so that children understand the relationship – often thought of as separate skills. We identify and use the literary devices in descriptive writing, delivering a method that meets the examiner’s mark scheme. Following the examinations, many students have received letters from top-tier independent schools commending their writing skills. Grammar and Vocabulary.
