This last week of the summer holiday courses heads us into the autumn term of Year 6. We evaluate current levels of attainment and skills, identify strengths and needs and target to return ready for the challenges ahead. This course is excellent to build on previous masterclasses or as an independent week of teaching and learning given all material is bespoke. Comprehension skills working in granular detail through the text, deep analysis and annotation skills, approaching a variety of question types and structuring answers with precision (PETA). Meticulous in making a clear point, choosing appropriate evidence, naming the technique and analysing the effect. Writing skills are linked to the comprehension work so that children understand the relationship – often thought of as separate skills. We identify and use the literary devices in descriptive writing, delivering a method to meet the examiner’s mark scheme. Following the examinations, many students have received letters from top-tier independent schools commending their writing skills. Grammar and Vocabulary. All material is original and cannot be purchased. Papers will not be repeated in any other course.
