With expert guidance, students will strengthen critical reading, writing, and comprehension skills, all while developing a growth mindset, stress management techniques, and academic resilience, essential qualities for success in competitive entrance exams. Comprehension – Developing the joy of English! Reading a range of texts (poetry, fiction and non-fiction) and encouraging intonation and understanding. We begin text analysis skills, introduce literary devices and the tools that authors use to make fiction vivid. We are detectives, identifying the literary devices and start to annotate texts and analyse questions, whilst structuring answers appropriately. Through structured lessons, students will refine their text analysis, annotation, and question interpretation skills, mastering the PETA method (Point, Evidence, Technique, Analysis) to craft precise, well-structured responses across prose, multiple-choice, and poetry papers. Creative Writing Skills. Children often struggle with writing skills, and we deliver a method that meets the examiner’s mark scheme. We learn how to plan a logical narrative that is relevant to the title, the ‘ingredients’ required to write creatively so that children understand the elements that impact the reader – these skills build success and therefore, confidence. Writing is a core focus, equipping students with the techniques examiners look for in both creative and personal response styles.
